Rehearsing at the Joffrey Ballet School, nine women gathered to work on a group piece inspired by the communal resilience of the Irish and Irish culture throughout history- such as war, famine, and controversial societal practices such as Magdalene Asylums- which remained open until 1996. Musically and thematically inspired by the small island and artistic haven “Inishlacken”, the company members rehearsed collaboratively to bring Inishlacken to fruition, premiering the new work in 2012 at SUNY Purchase.
