Inspired by the true story of Millie, a whale that swam into Rockport Harbor in MA, in 2019, this site-specific Quarry Dance reimagined Millbrook Meadow and Pond as a living tribute to her journey. Performed on a floating stage and throughout the natural landscape, the work combined sweeping fabric, bird puppets, and live percussion with music by Philip Glass, The Cinematic Orchestra, Max Richter, Steve Reich, and more. Millie the Whale reflects on wonder, fragility, and remembrance, inviting audiences to share in a collective meditation on our connection to nature and the sea.
