THE EMOTIONS PROJECT (2017)

Choreography: Alison Cook-Beatty
Music: Tenebrae (version for string quartet), Osvaldo Golijov
Costume Design: Barbara Carey & Alison Cook-Beatty
Lighting Design: Tony Marques
Performance Info: Eight dancers, 13 minutes
Premiered at Ballet Hispanico Studios on November 3rd, 2017

Alison put up a post on social media and asked people “What do you believe the most vulnerable emotion is?” She received an overwhelming response. People wrote words such as Fear, Anger, Grief, Love, Acceptance, and she found images that made her think of these words and created a large map. Alison brought the map into rehearsal and the dancers and she had a discussion and stood up and began creating this piece.
