“Winter Wonderland” is a series of five short works that premiered from December 2020-March 2021 on YouTube and filmed in various locations around New York City during COVID-19 to share the holiday spirit with all. Although all sections are very joyful, the middle section, Section 3, is a response to the current times. Set to the music of ” Sinead O’Connor, Silent Night and, Ava Maria, Ms. Cook-Beatty felt that many people in the country were not having a “silent night” and she rearranged the piece with Newscasts of 2020 (inspired by Simon & Garfunkle’s 7 óclock news/ Silent Night. Ms. Cook-Beatty felt she could not ignore the current climate or state that so many were experiencing. Her hope was always to share hope, light, joy, and positivity thru this darkness.
