Artistic Director, Alison Cook-Beatty is thrilled to be presenting the WORLD PREMIERE (WHALE), THE EMOTIONS PROJECT, HUMANITAS, THE UNINVITED GUEST and two NEW WORKS with guest artists Winston Dynamite Bown and Ms. Kitty Lunn along with Alison Cook Beatty Dance at The Salvatore Capezio Theater at Peridance!

HUMANITAS features nine dancers costumed by designer Christine Darch. Set to the music of Ancient Airs and Dances and is composed by Ottorino Respighi. HUMANITAS is inspired by famous works of art by Sandro Botticelli’s paintings, La Primavera and The Birth of Venus. Greek gods and goddesses, such as Venus, Zephyros, Chloris, Mercury, Flora, The Three Graces, and Cupid are brought to life from these two works of art.

THE EMOTIONS PROJECT was inspired by the question “What do you believe the most vulnerable emotion is?” After receiving an overwhelming amount of feedback from people on social media, such as, Fear, Anger, Grief, Love, Acceptance, Alison found images that made her think of these words and created a large map. She brought the inspire into rehearsal and the dancers, and she had a discussion and stood up and began creating this piece. The music is by Osvaldo Golijo.

THE UNINVITED GUEST is set to the music of Mark Nauseef and arranged by Peter Smith. One of Alison’s earliest works, a collaboration with fellow dancers while studying at The Boston Conservatory of Music at Berklee. Alison, with permission from all of her colleagues, has rearranged this work on Alison Cook Beatty Dance. The Uninvited Guest appears to be a dinner party that has gone wrong.

WORLD PREMIERE (WHALE) is set to the music of John Cage and Arvo Part. Inspired by the New Zealand film the Whale Rider by Niki Caro and paintings by Sang-Hyun Chung.

NEW WORK (Saturday Night) Guest Artist Winston Dynamite Brown and Alison Cook-Beatty co-choreograph this NEW WORK together and are reunited on the stage since dancing in Paul Taylor’s American Modern Dance, Taylor 2!

NEW WORK (Sunday Night) Guest Artist, and Artistic Director of Infinity Dance Theater, a non-traditional dance company featuring dancers with and without disabilities, Ms. Kitty Lunn, has commissioned Alison to reset her solo work TOUCHED BY FIRE as a duet. Ms. Lunn and Ms. Cook-Beatty will perform the duet together.
